10 Days Xinjiang Kazakhstan Tour from Khorgos Border to Almaty

As the capital city of Xinjiang, Urumqi has been showing people the development, history and culture of Xinjiang. Today, your flight will touch down in this charming city, which is also the first place of your amazing Xinjiang tour. We will meet you at the airport exit with a welcome board, then bring you to downtown Urumqi to check in your hotel.

We will drive 1.5 hours to entrance of the Heavenly Lake about 08:30, following is the 40-minutes shuttle bus twisting through the picturesque Tianshan mountains to the edge of the Lake. Either Trek around the lake, enjoy the boating cruise, or even take the cable car to the explore the Maya Mountain for the incredible view of Bogoda Peak. Thereafter we will drive to Kuitun for an overnight stay.

The journey today will begin from the picturesque Sayram Lake, the another highlight of your northern Xinjiang tour, which is known as the last drop of tears of the Atlantic. Sayram Lake is a fairyland with wonderful natural scenery. its water is very clear and pure. you can stroll on the shore, enjoy the blooming wildflowers and the beautiful grassland around the lake. After a leisure time at Sayram Lake, we will drive along the famous Guozigou Bridge to Yining. Guozigou Bridge is the largest and most important bridge in Xinjiang. There are many beautiful bends and you can enjoy the scenery of Guozigou valley which is the most beautiful valley in southern Xinjiang en route.

After breakfast, drive you to Naraty,then visit the beatiful Naraty Grassland, which is one of the world's four largest grasslands of the sub-alpine meadow flora,  has been a famous pasture beautiful grassland scenery featuring local kazakh folk customs since the ancient times. You will have full day to explore the grassland.

Driving from Nalati to Tekes, you will start your journey from the ingenious Kalajun Prairie, which is as beautiful as in a poem or a picture. There are springs densely distributed here. Every year, from May to September. The ideal place for people of the pasture to exchange materials and hold cultural activities. Kalajun, in Kazak, means "a dark wilderness". For generations, people on the grassland have lived a simple nomadic life. The traditional lifestyle exudes a unique charm.

Say farewell to Tekes and back to Yining. we will go to Kazanqi Folk Village, a blue fairy tale town in the city. This village in the hinterland of the Tianshan Mountains is full of colorful Uyghur dwellings. It is a Soviet style with sky blue Color-based, colorful spire houses with wood-carved windows are like walking into Chefchaouen in Morocco. 

Next, pay a visit to the Accordion Museum on Liuxing Street. According to reports, the museum has a collection of more than 800 accordions from more than 20 countries, attracting many tourists to take pictures here, and even music lovers come here.

This morning, we will transfer you to the Khorgos border. Your Kazakhstan driver will meet you at the border and transfer you to Almaty.

In the way heading to the city, we'll stop at the traditional farm “Bal qymyz”, where you can taste fresh horse milk with Kazakh traditional bread, called “Bayursak”.

We will start moving to Issyk Lake, 60 km away from Almaty. This turquoise mountain lake, formed 8-10 thousand years ago due to a mountain collapse, is located at an altitude of 1,760 meters above sea level. In autumn, the lake beautifully reflects the stunning scenery of the surrounding trees.

Enjoy the beauty of Turgen Valley. By the flowing river, you'll find peace with the gentle sound of water. The various colors make the scene even more stunning, with vibrant leaves reflecting in the river. Turgen is a great spot for a barbecue or a cozy picnic. Bring some tea or coffee and your favorite snacks to enjoy while taking in the beautiful views.
