Ili has the largest lavender-producing region in China, accounting for more than 95% of the country's total lavender land. Along with France's Provence and Japan's Hokkaido, it is recognized as one of the world's top three lavender -growing regions. In addition, the Ili Valley shares a very similar geographic location, climate and soil environment with Provence. Lavender in Ili blooms twice a year in summer and autumn. The flower language of lavender is "waiting for love", which is why many young couples come here to take wedding photos, hoping for eternal love and vows.
The first blooming season is from mid-to-late June to early July. It is the peak season with the most tourists. Vast fields of lavender stretch and spread from the foot of the Tianshan Mountains, with pieces of purple slowly merge into a purple river with a mysterious fragrance woven into dreams. The average temperature during this period is from 15℃ to 30℃ (59°F to 86°F). In particular, the probability of seeing the ideal lavender sea is highest from June 18th to June 22nd. In early July, farmers will gradually begin harvesting the lavender.
If you missed the lavender in June, don’t worry, there is another chance. The second blooming season is from late September to early October. The scale is relatively small, with fewer tourists and better value for money. The average temperature during this period is from 8℃ to 22℃ (46°F to 72°F). The weather is cool and pleasant, and the sun is not so scorching.

What to Wear: Avoid wearing green or purple clothes, as these colors will blend into the background of grass and lavender. White or light-colored outfits are highly recommended for the best contrast in photos.
Best Photo Time: The ideal time for photography are 8:30–10:00 AM or 8:00–9:00 PM, when the natural lighting is soft.
Heat & Bees: Since the UV rays are strong in summer, make sure to bring sunglasses, hat and sunscreen to protect your skin. Also, be cautious of insects and bees in the flower fields.
Shopping for Souvenirs: If you’re planning to buy lavender essential oils, sachets, or other products as gifts, it's best to purchase them from official brand like Princess Jieyou and Ipalhan, or directly from the 65th and 70th Regiment farm stores.
