Itinerary

Day 1Almaty

Your guide will pick you up at International Airport and accompany you to Almaty City. Transfer to the hotel and check-in at the hotel at 14.00. Almaty was the capital of independent Kazakhstan from 1991 to 1997. In 1997, the capital moved to Astana; since then, Almaty has been referred to as the southern capital of Kazakhstan. Almaty remains the major commercial center of Kazakhstan. Today you will have a 6 hour city tour during of which you will visit Green Bazaar, Panfilov Park, Ascension Cathedral, Medeo Gorge, and Kok-Tobe hill. Lunch is in the national restaurant of Kok Tobe. Dinner is in a restaurant in Almaty. Night is in a hotel. 

  


Day 2Almaty – Tamgaly – Almaty

Today we will have a transfer to Tamgaly Tas. It is situated near the Anrahai mountains. It is a picture gallery of ancient men. The gallery has many petroglyphs, the earliest dating back as far as XVI-XIV centuries BC. Those unique petroglyphs show images of ancient inhabitants of Kazakhstan, their culture, home and way of life. For centuries, an image of Buddha has gazed into the sky from an enormous rock on the right bank. The sun blackened cliff-faces have preserved many petroglyphs (rock paintings), images of mysterious deities and late Buddhist inscriptions whose meaning has yet to be unraveled. After an excursion is drive back to Almaty. Night is in a hotel.

  


Day 3Almaty – Charyn – Almaty

Today we will visit one of the most popular places of Kazakhstan – Charyn Canyon. It is an amazing creation of nature that has existed for millions of years, picturesque and very diverse in geomorphologic aspects. The height of the steep mountainsides reaches 150-300 meters. Numerous ravines and gullies make dense rambling net. Wind and water created stunning "Red Castles Valley". All along the valley you are surrounded by towers of fantastical forms, built of sedimentary. Throughout time nature has created these architectural wonders, without haste, it has built majestic castles. The road to the Canyon and back is 400 km. After a short walk in the canyon we will drive back to Almaty. Night is in a hotel.

  


Day 4Almaty – Issyk Lake – Almaty – Astana (night train)

In the morning we will drive to the Issyk Gorge. On the way we will visit State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Issyk”. The route will take you to an altitude of 1756 meters above sea level, to the beautiful mountain Issyk Lake. The lake was formed about 10,000 years ago due to colossal landslide, which resulted in the formation of a natural dam of 300 meters in height. At the lake you will enjoy the majestic beauty of its turquoise water surface and the views of Issyk Gorge. We will have a picnic there to spend more time having a rest.  In the afternoon you will return to Almaty city and drive to the railway station for the train to Astana. Night is in a train.

  


Day 5Astana – Borovoy

Arrival at railway station of Astana is at 08:25 a.m. Then is transfer to Borovoy. It is a real oasis, a fairy-tale world of nature, ornament and pride of northern Kazakhstan. There are many sanatoriums, guest houses, and sport camps. Thousands of people come from around the world to improve their health, to get acquainted with the magnificent and unusual nature, and just to relax. Borovoy is famous for its picturesque surroundings. Visiting Borovoy will leave many warm impressions that you will remember for a long time. The combination of mountains, pine forests and lakes creates not only the unique beauty of the landscape, but also a special curative and healthy climate. In the end of the day is return to Astana. Night is in a hotel.

  


Day 6Astana

Astana is the capital and second largest city (after Almaty) of Kazakhstan, with an officially estimated population of 708,794 as of 1 August 2010. It is located in the north-central portion of Kazakhstan, within Akmola Province, though administrated separately from the province as a federal city area. It is a very modern and well developed city. During 7 hours tour you will visit the Constitution Square, Presidential Centre of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan,  Shopping center Khan Shatyr, “Astana-Baiterek” monument, Kazakh Eli Square, The Palace of Peace and Accord, Khazret Sultan mosque and the Palace of Independence. Lunch is in the national restaurant. Overnight is in a hotel.

  


Day 7Flight

In the morning is transfer to the airport.
