The Three-Immortal Caves

The Three-Immortal Caves Located in a steep cliff on the southern bank of the Hakmark River in Artux Township 18 kilometers to the southwest of Artux City. It consists of three caves side by side in the cliff, local people call it “Tokuz-Ukla Caves”. The caves are all quadrate in shape with longitudinal arched ceiling. The left cave is painted a lotus, around which are tens of Buddha in various postures. There is only an incomplete stone seated Buddha and two standing ones on both left and right sides of it respectively remained in the middle cave. These caves were constructed very early. The wall paintings survived belong to that repainted during the end of Tang Dynasty and the beginning of the Song Dynasty.
